Three Little Hooves Are Trotting Our Way 🐐

Next week, East View Riding Centre is getting a little bit louder, a little bit cheekier, and a whole lot more adorable. We’re welcoming three Pygmy goats to the yard, and they’re coming all the way from Brighton College Prep Handcross.

If that name rings a bell, it’s because our own Evie — yes, the boss’s daughter — is a pupil there. So when we found out the school’s goats needed a new home, it felt like fate. A bit of Handcross charm is moving to the edge of Ashdown Forest.

Settling In

We’re currently building their new enclosure, tucked in near the hedge and the fir trees — sheltered, shaded, and (we’re told) exactly the sort of spot a Pygmy goat approves of. Goats are creatures of habit, so we’re taking the move slowly: plenty of space to explore, somewhere cosy to retreat to, and time to get used to their new neighbours of the four-legged and two-legged variety.

An Open Invitation for Handcross Students

We know these three will be missed back at school. So here’s our promise: any Brighton College Prep Handcross Park student who wants to come and say hello is always welcome. Pop in, give them a scratch behind the ears, and see how they’re settling into forest life. No appointment needed — just a love of goats.

And while you’re here, why not turn it into a proper visit? Students (and their families) are welcome to come for a ride too. There’s something rather lovely about saying hi to old friends and making new ones — on four legs, with reins this time.

Watch This Space

We’ll be sharing updates as the goats find their feet, pick their favourite napping spots, and inevitably try to escape at least once (it’s tradition). Follow along on our Instagram for the day-to-day mischief.
